Hazarduari Palace: It is one of the most important landmarks and an attractive tourist destination in the city of Murshidabad that draws huge crowds from all over the country. Built by Duncan McLeod, it has about 1000 doors, 114 rooms and 8 galleries. This spectacular structure, built using the Indo Europeon architectural style, captivates and mesmerizes its visitors with its beauty and glory.
Hazarduari Palace Museum: The Hazarduari Palace Museum exhibits an exotic collection of a variety of paintings, furniture, books, weapons, statues, manuscripts, books, farmans, land revenue records, farman and other rare antiquities. The mirrors and a large crystal chandelier are some of the most popular antiquities exhibited here. This enchanting museum with around 20 galleries, consisting of about 4742 antiquities, enthrals the history lovers and the visitors.
Nizamat Imambara: It stands parallel to the Hazarduari Palace and was built by Nawab Nazim Mansur Ali Khan. With its grand pillars, marble floors and spectacular chandeliers, this is the largest imambara in West Bengal state and is one of the largest in the country.
Bacchawali Tope: It lies on the Nizamat Fort Campus and is believed to have been used for protecting the city of Murshidabad from external threats and attacks. It is believed that the canon was fired only once and the deafening sound emitted made most of the pregnant ladies of the city give birth and thus this canon was given its name.
Moti Jheel Lake: It is a horse-shoe shaped lake in Murshidabad, located at a distance of about three kilometres away from the Hazarduari Palace. A beautiful palace named Motijhil Palace, constructed by Nawazish Muhammad Khan is located besides this magnificent lake.
Adinath temple: It is located at Kathgola Gardens in Murshidabad. It is a Jain Temple dedicated to Lord Rishabha, the first Jain Tirthankar. The presiding deity here is about 900 years old and this temple houses about 17 images of Jain Tirthankars and several deities. The unique and captivating architecture along with the soothing and tranquil ambience fills the minds of the devotees with unadulterated joy and pure bliss.
Besides these, there are several other tourist attractions and places of worship in and around this city including Chowk Mosque, Radha Madhav Temple, Chowk Mosque, Clock Tower etc that are to be enjoyed with your family and friends.
